Storytime

STORYTIME is an interactive app (using VOIP, face detection and face filters), through which parents recreate the magical moment of telling stories to their kids from afar.

About the app

Storytime is an app we developed for European Telekom (T-Mobile) through their PR agency Leo Burnett. It’s an app through which parents who are travelling on business can still tell bedtime stories to their kids from afar. During a live video stream, the parent reads built in stories while using face filters and funny voiceovers to match the characters and keep the child entertained.

Challenge

Our challenge was to take the services that were offering the features we needed – Agora for VOIP, Twilio for automatic text messages, face filters, voice changing services – and make them all work together seamlessly within the app.

Solution

Just using the SDKs and APIs of our suppliers didn’t cut it. We had to get our hands dirty and adjust the libraries to match our needs. The face filters were what we had to tweak the most, as we were using custom filters to match the characters in the built in stories.

Results

Tens of thousands of parents are now using Storytime app to tell bedtime stories to their kids (in selected countries), and it’s been only 10 days since its launch. More so, the project is going to compete in the Cannes Lions 2019 competition.

Why don’t you try it out?
